Overdue Items:
If a student has overdue items they will not be allowed to check out more until the overdues and/or damage fines are resolved. Fines are assigned for lost or damaged books (not for overdues). Overdue notices will be given to the teachers quarterly and sent home at report card time.
Lost Materials/Fines:
The following letter explains Adams' policy and procedure for lost materials and/or fines...
Dear__________,
Your child has not yet returned a library book that was checked out from the Adams Media Center during this school year. Weekly notices concerning the late or lost books have been sent in the Wednesday folder. A copy of this notice is attached to this letter.
There are a number of ways your child can make restitution to the library for the missing book(s).
1. Return the lost book.
2. Pay for the lost book in one payment.
3. Pay for the lost book in small weekly payments.
4. Replace the lost book with another children's book from your home collection.
(The book needs to be appropriate for use by elementary students, unmarked, clean, and without torn pages.)
If the lost book is found after the restitution has been made, the money or replacement book will be refunded.
Thanks for your help in this matter!
Sincerely,
Pam Cassel
Adams Media Specialist
