It's never too early to start reading to your children. Since they were just babies, my three grandchildren, Amelie, Oscar and Piper have loved to listen to stories everyday. Good reading skills help in all curriculum areas as well as in writing. And equally important, it gives you time with your children and shows them that you value reading...and their company!
Mission Statement:
Our mission in the Eastridge Library Media Center is a collaborative effort to teach our students the skills necessary to find, evaluate and utilize information, foster a love of reading and encourage imaginative thinking.

Generous Donation by the Sparr Family
Due to a generous donation from the Sparr family, many new books will be found in the Eastridge library. Sets of books (pictured below) on such subjects as the solar system, fantastic vehicles and amazing animals as well as many individual books will keep students coming back for more. The on-going donation will also enable us to continue to update our aging collection and have many of the latest titles available to our students. THANK YOU, Sparr family!

Please help your child be a responsible library patron and return all books on time and in good condition. Thank you!
One of the many non-curricular lessons your children have an opportunity to learn at school is responsibility, and returning library books in a timely manner is a great responsibility lesson. Our library looses several hundred dollars each year in books lost and not replaced. As we near the end of another school year, I urge you to search your house, bookshelves, car, daycare, etc. for books that belong to the Eastridge Media Center. If books and/or magazines cannot be found, we ask that you pay for them, and I will notify you of the cost of all items. To assure that books are not lost I suggest that books be put back into the child’s backpack as soon as they have been read, and/or that you have a designated spot in your home for school library books. I see children feel so proud when supposedly long, lost books are found, so thank you for helping your child learn this important responsibility lesson.
“So many books, so little time.”
In the current spirit of “pass it on”, we’d like to propose an optional approach to gift giving. Many of you give end of year gifts to your child’s teacher. As an option, please consider donating a book to the library in honor of your child’s teacher. Ms. Erickson has posted a wish list of books on the Media link of the Eastridge web site, and the list is also available in the office. She asks that you refer to the list for purchases or approve the book with her ahead of time so that we keep the library up to date with the most appropriate and needed books. Alternatively, a gift of money‚Ķno amount is too small‚Ķmay be donated to a fund for books to be purchased in the teacher’s honor with a note stating the name of the student and a teacher he/she wishes to honor. A bookplate will be put inside the cover of the book indicating who donated and for which teacher.
The library collection at Eastridge has an average copyright date of 1985, so there are many books that need to be replaced. We have been fortunate to have several generous donations this year, but the need is great as well. So, in the future, if you care to donate either a monetary amount or a book during the month of your child’s birthday or your favorite holiday, the same process as outlined above will be used.
Thank you for considering this opportunity to add to our school library collection! (See Book List Below.)
